ABOUT OUR INSTRUCTOR: Sharon Bailey Lewis

Sharon Bailey Lewis, a twenty year environmental professional and Certified Environmental and Safety Compliance Officer, has been with the City of Corpus Christi for six years, managing internal and external Environmental Affairs. She oversees initiatives that promote environmental stewardship and sustainability in municipal government, and is the City point of contact for all federal, state and local environmental initiatives. Prior to coming to the City, Sharon served as the Environmental Health and Safety Manager and Quality Control Chemist for a major water treatment chemicals manufacturer. Also, a former Math and Science teacher, Sharon was Science Department Head for a private high school in the United States Territory of Guam, teaching Algebra, Geometry, Biology and Chemistry. A native Corpus Christian, Sharon is a 1989 graduate of Texas A&M University – Corpus Christi and holds a Bachelor of Science Degree in Biology and minor in Chemistry. She has plans to continue pursuing postgraduate studies in Environmental Engineering and Environmental Law. Sharon serves on the Board of Trustees of Coastal Bend Bays Foundation, Board of Directors of Toby Globy Eco Action and as a founding member and planning board member for South Texas Environmental Professionals. She also is a member of the South Texas Chapter of the American Society of Chemical Engineers, the National Association of Environmental Professionals, and the National Registry of Environmental Professionals.
Sharon is very active in City government, serving on and participates in several environmental committees as the City representative and ex-officio, including Corpus Christi Community Advisory Council, Local Emergency Planning Committee, Mayor’s Council of Governments, Clean Cities Advisory Council and is a Host City representative to the State Department World Affairs Council where she has hosted environmental professionals from Israel, Singapore, Vietnam and most recently Indonesia.
On a personal note, Sharon’s daughter, Stephanie, studied Medical Humanities at Baylor University and is currently residing in Austin, TX. Sharon also serves as a minister and Kinder Church teacher at Corpus Christi Christian Fellowship. Sharon loves her family, her church, her job and Corpus Christi. She inspires people of all ages and backgrounds with her enthusiasm and genuine love for people as a motivational speaker, evangelist and teacher.
