9-11 Patriot 5K Run Honoring First Responders

This year marks the 13th anniversary of the events of September 11, 2001. In honor of the brave First Responders who made great sacrifices on our behalf, as well as those who stand ready to do so today, Chief of Police Floyd Simpson has announced the 4th annual Patriot 5K Run & Walk.

The event is sponsored by Citizens In Support of CCPD (CISCCPD), a not-for-profit organization whose mission is to create a safer city by strengthening the bond between the Corpus Christi Police Department and the citizens it serves. In an effort to include and encourage as many people as possible who wish to participate, there will be no entry fee. In addition, the first 500 registered participants will receive a free commemorative t-shirt courtesy of CISCCPD.

The Patriot 5K Run & Walk will take place Thursday, September 11th, at the Cole Park Amphitheater, 1526 Ocean Drive. The gates will open at 5:00 p.m., the opening ceremonies will begin at 6:00 p.m. and the race will start at 6:30 p.m. Participants can now register online at http://Patriot5K.ItsYourRace.com. There is also an “It’s Your Race” app you can download using your mobile device.
