 Local landscape professionals have teamed up with Xeriscape Corpus Christi to help residents learn how to create water wise landscapes. A Xeriscape Symposium will be held

 Persistent drought conditions throughout the state are convincing residents to implement water saving techniques promoted through the seven principles of Xeriscape gardening. Homeowners are encouraged to practice simple water saving tips such as:

• Assess the level of moisture in the soil before watering.
• Early morning watering is best to reduce the loss of moisture to evaporation.
• Water on calms days to prevent wind drift and evaporation.
• Do not water lawns and landscape between 10:00 a.m. and 6:00 p.m.
• Water slowly to avoid run-off and to ensure the soil absorbs the water.
