State Commission Honors City Libraries with Grants

The Corpus Christi library system has been awarded three Texas State Library and Archives Commission grants totaling almost $50,000. The grants will fund several programs.

$8,373 IMPACT Grant: The creation of a mobile lab that will provide computer classes throughout the library system and at outreach locations.

$3,000 Texas Reads Grant: Science kits will be purchased to continue the development of STEM, or Science, Technology, Engineering and Math programs for the 2015 Summer Reading Club.

$37,226 Special Projects Grant: This program uses iPads to teach intellectually and developmentally disabled adults, individuals who are blind and visually impaired, deaf or hearing impaired. The iPads will also be used to develop outreach programming to families residing at the Metro Ministries Rainbow House and the Women’s Shelter of South Texas.
