What is the MLK Day of Service?
Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. once said, “Life’s most persistent and urgent question is: “What are you doing for others?” Each year, Americans across the country answer the questions by coming together on the King Holiday to serve their neighbors and communites.
This year the City of Corpus Christi Retired and Senior Volunteer Program (RSVP) will be serving our communtiy by donating Gloves and Scarves to the homeless at the Mother Teresa Shelter at 513 Sam Rankin St. Monday January 19th from 12pm to 2pm. We will also be serving Hot Coco to those who would like something warm.
On Friday, January 16th, 10am at the Sidbury House in Heritage Park the City of Corpus Christi Senior Companion Program (SCP) will be filling bags to donating toiletries to TriSun Nursing Home 801Cantwell Ln. Toiletries will include deodorant, shampoo, socks, soap, toothbrushes, etc.
The MLK Day of Service is a part of United We Serve, the President’s national call to service intiative. It calls for Americans from all walks of life to work together to provide solutions to our most pressing national problems.
